Puppy Policy
|
| |
Our puppies are sold with FULL AKC registration (unless otherwise noted) and will come with their own AKC registration papers, 4-generation pedigree, vet check, puppy shots/worming and tails/dew claws docked(when applicable). We cannot guarantee the adult size of our puppies. We can only give an estimate based on the size of both parents. We NEVER let our Golden babies go before 6 weeks of age or Yorkie babies before 8 weeks of age. It is our hope that each and every puppy we raise and send off will be going to their forever homes as treasured pet companions where their only job is to love and be loved! If you plan to breed one of our babies, please be kind to them and do not over-breed them!

Health Guarantee
|
| |
Our puppies will be vet checked while in our care and are guaranteed to be healthy when they leave our home to go to their new homes with their New Owner!
If, within 72 hours of leaving our home with their New Owner, the puppy is diagnosed by a currently licensed and practicing veterinarian with a genetic disorder that cannot be treated and will result in immediate death, then we (the breeder) will gladly take back the puppy at that time along with all papers given. We (the breeder) will then offer the New Owner another puppy, of the breeders choice, from the same litter, if available, or a future litter, when/if available. We, the breeder, cannot be held responsible for any illness and/or injury and/or damage incurred to/by the puppy or its New Owner after the puppy leaves our premises with their New Owner. All vet bills incurred by the New Owner are the sole responsibility of the New Owner. Hypoglycemia is not covered under this Health Guarantee.

Shipping Policy
|
| |
We can not ship puppies via air cargo. Lubbock International Airport now uses the smaller air planes of American Eagle and Continental Express and they will not allow the transporting of puppies as cargo. However, it may be possible for passengers to take puppies as carry-on in a small crate, that is something you would have to investigate and arrange yourself. All shipping/travel expenses are the sole responsibility of the individual/s purchasing a puppy.

Breeding Policy
|
| |
All of our breeding dogs are also our beloved family pets and we want them in tip-top condition when we choose to breed them. We feel that requires longer periods of rest between litters. Our puppies are not mass produced like in large commercial kennels and puppy mills. Each and every litter we produce is carefully spaced and planned to ensure the health of both mom and pups.

Hypoglycemia in Puppies
|
| |
HYPOGLYCEMIA IN PUPPIES
Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, is a serious, potentially fatal, condition that can occur in young puppies, especially toy breeds. Early recognition and proper treatment is the key to preventing this potentially fatal condition. If a puppy is bright, alert and bouncing one minute, but is down, depressed and disoriented the next, it could be a sign of hypoglycemia. It is MUCH easier to prevent hypoglycemia than it is to treat it.

| |
PREVENTION: Have food and water available to your puppy AT ALL TIMES during the first 6 months and make sure they actually eat. We recommend a high quality puppy food such as Purina Puppy Chow. Never let your puppy go longer than 2-3 hours without eating during the day. Give 3-4 pea-sized portions of Nutri-Cal orally twice a day and after vigorous play until he is at least 20 weeks of age. Karo syrup or pancake syrup is okay to use if you do not have
Nutri-Cal. DO NOT use honey.

| |
Hypoglycemic events are almost always preceded by a stress of some kind. Some examples of common stress are: weaning, teething, vaccinations, a change in environment, cold temperatures, infection, intestinal parasites and over-handling. It is your responsibility as the owner to ensure your puppy eats properly, rests adequately and avoids unnecessary stress. Very young puppies may need to rest as much as 20 out of 24 hours. Puppies may play so
hard that they over-tire and forget to eat. Make sure they go no longer than 2-3 hours without eating during the day.
|
| |
SYMPTOMS: Yorkshire Terrier puppies in general will be bright eyed, alert and constantly moving when awake. Despite having adequate rest, your puppy may be hypoglycemic if he is slowing down, acting listless, beginning to tremble or shiver despite being in a warm environment, has a white, blue or gray tongue and gums, dilated pupils, blank stare or is comatose. You must take action NOW! Always assume your puppy is alive, even if it is comatose and lifeless.
|
| |
TREATMENT: Call your vet if you suspect your puppy is hypoglycemic. Rub several pea-sized portions of Nurti-cal on your puppies gums, under the tongue and on the roof if its mouth. Use a heating pad or blanket to slowly warm the puppy to proper body temperature. If he does not respond, go immediately to your vet’s office. If he does respond, a call to the vet is all you may need. Immediately feed and water your puppy, monitor it to make sure it can eat and drink and that the condition is over. Eliminate the stress that caused the episode.
|
| |
Important Note: Never, ever leave your puppy unattended unless it is in a small enclosure such as a playpen or dog crate with adequate food and water. Never give your puppy the run of the entire house until they are at least 6 months of age. There are too many places throughout the house that such a tiny dog can get lost and lose its way back to its food and water.
